Lukashenka promises to release Iryna Khalip to British journalists
This happened on October 9. A week later, the journalist came to the police to check and asked whether she could really leave Belarus. They just laughed at her.
One of the Evening Standard journalists Oliver Poul asked a question about Iryna Khalip. He said he was ready to bail for her and asked why she still could not leave Belarus.
The state leader replied that he took the decision: the journalist could take Iryna Khalip to Moscow right then, "instead of your wife".
However, the "Novaya Gazeta" journalist is still under a non-leave obligation, informs Charter97.org.
