Ministry of Information refused to explain meaning of “ass” and “lousiness”

According to its written reply, it only deals with the correspondence of mass media to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

Nevertheless, the Ministry has advised that the civil activist should ask Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala Institute of Language and Literature of the NAS of Belarus to explain the meaning of such words as “ass” and “lousiness”. According to the Ministry of Information, the institution can provide a linguistic explanation.

Let us remind you that President Alyaksandr Lukashenka called President of the European Commission Barroso “an ass” and said that the Ukrainian administration was “lousy” in one of his speeches.

Activist Alyaksei Paulouski collected more than 10 signatures in connection with it and asked Aleh Pralyaskouski, Minister of Information, to explain the meaning of “ass” and “lousy”. He also expressed a desire to find out whether ordinary citizens could use those words in their communication with the Belarusian leader.
