Ukraine's new envoy to arrive in Minsk
Ambassador Victor Tykhonov must quit his diplomatic post after being elected as a member of parliament, Supreme Rada.
Tykhonov did not run on the party list, but in a single-mandate district in the Lugansk region of Ukraine. He got more than 60% of votes, reports interfax.by.
The Embassy of Ukraine says that the Ambassador will return to Minsk from Ukraine in the near future. However, the embassy did not specify for how long Tykhonov would stay in Belarus. The new squad of the Supreme Rada starts working in mid-December.
Viktor Tykhonov has served as Ukraine's envoy in Minsk since August 2011.
