OSCE representative writes to Alyaksandr Lukashenka
OSCE representative Dunia Mijatovich urges to stop harassment of the Belarusian independent media.
In her appeal, she says that the Belarusian leader should stop his extremely harsh policy with regard to the media. According to Mijatovich's words quoted by the OSCE press-center, at first it is necessary to abolish all the accusations and sentences against the journalists.
In particular, the OSCE representative reminds about journalists Iryna Khalip and Andrzej Poczobut, sentenced for criticizing the Belarusian authorities. According to Mijatovich, these sentences should be abolished straightaway. She also reminds about Natallia Radzina, who was forced to emigrate. Mijatovich claims that the officials should handle more criticism from the media than ordinary citizens.
