Pahaniayla: In order people wouldn't think confessions were forced out ...
…of some psycho, the trial on terrorist act case should be open. Specialists are not sure the authorities will agree to this.
KGB plans to set charges of being connected with the terrorist act in Minsk metro against Vitsebsk fitters no later than within 10 days since the moment of detention - April 22. The head of KGB's center of information and public relations Aliaksandr Antanovich has told Euroradio about this.
Aliaksandr Antanovich: “The Criminal and Procedural Code of the Republic of Belarus prescribes that an accusation should be brought within 3-10 days. I think, as soon as 10 days pass, everything will be done in accordance with the Code”.
Belarusian General Public Prosecutor Ryhor Vasilevich stated recently that investigation of the terrorist act might be completed within two months. This means, we should expect that the case will be transferred to court in the same time period.
A lawyer Harry Pahaniayla is convinced that the court trial on such a notorious crime, which took away the lives of so many people, should be open.
Harry Pahaniayla: “It should be open. The present should have an opportunity to apprehend the proofs presented by the accusation, and sincerety of those people who are subjected to criminal responsibility. No one should have any doubts like, may be they simply put the blame on some pshychos, forcing some kind of confessions out of them”.
However, the General-Lieutenant of the police in retirement Mechyslau Hryb does not exclude that the authorities would not agree to an open court trial.
Mechyslau Hryb: “I think they might get scared to make the trial open. A number of circumstances might be revealed at the trial, which the authorities wouldn't like to make public. For example, where they lived, worked, hid, why they committed so many blasts and avoided any attention from the law-enforcement authorities. There might be other questions, too. I would make this trial open and hide nothing from people. It would be unpleasant to hear or see some things, but it just needs to be endured”.
