Representative of Orthodox Church has not been invited to Beijing yet
The National Olympic Committee of Belarus has not expressed any interest in inviting Orthodox priests to travel to Beijing Olympics together with Belarus national team. They were asked for it four years ago and travelled to Athens to support our sportsmen and to bless them so that they could achieve good sports results. The press secretary of the Belarusian exarchate of Russian Orthodox Church Andrei Petrashkevich informed ERB about it:
"There have not been any suggestions of the kind made by the Olympic Committee and the sports committee yet. But we blessed sportsmen and our priests travelled to Greece together with the Olympic team over the past years”.
Andrei Petrashkevich says that the Belarusian exarchate is still waiting for representatives of the Belarusian Olympic Committee to contact it.
"There will be a blessing is they ask for it”, - says Petrashkevich.
