Thai criminal court prolongs term of detention of IL-76 crew

The criminal court of Thailand prolonged the term of detention of the IL-76 crew for 12 more days for the fourth time. The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Ilyas Omarov has informed BelaPAN about it.
Let us remind you that the Il-76 was detained by the Thai authorities on December 11, 2009. Grenade cup discharges, portable antiaircraft missile complexes and other weapons packed in boxed with civil markings were found on the plane during a search. They had been loaded on it in North Korea.
The crew members - four citizens of Kazakstan and a Belarusian Mihail Petuhou – are accused of illegal possession of weapons and presenting false information about the cargo to the Thai authorities. The pilots refute their guilt. They claim they did not know anything about the weapons on board the plane and say they would have refused to fly if they had known it.
