Three die on a way to funeral

Three women, traveling to the funeral of a relative, died in a car accident on the Brest-Minsk highway.

Four residents of the town of Baranavicy – three women and a male driver, were heading to Minsk to attend a funeral service of a relative. While overtaking, the driver hit a passing vehicle and ended up at an opposite lane, colliding head-on with a heavy truck.

Two women died on the spot, while the third injured passenger passed away on the way to a Njasviz hospital. The driver survived, suffering rib fractures.

This is the first road accident in the Njasviz district in 2007. Last year 12 people died in 39 road accidents in the area.
