Transnefteprodukt has no plans for second oil pipeline in Belarus

Transnefteprodukt, the operator of the Russian petrochemical product pipelines, is set to upgrade the current pipeline on the territory of Belarus. At the same time, the Russian company has no plans to increase the pumping output or to build another network, the Russian web-based newspaper Vzglyad reports quoting company's CEO Vladimir Shimonovich as saying on Tuesday. Transnefteprodukt vice president Vladimir Nazarov added that the pipe's pumping capacity is 4 million tons of petrochemical products annually, and this is totally in line with the company's plans. The planned reconstruction does not aim at increasing the capacity.

Belarus' first deputy emergencies minister Valyantsin Karpitski said in January that Russia's Transnefteproduckt would lay the second pipeline after accidents disrupted pumping diesel in 2007 and 2008 due to a poor condition of pipes.
