Two actions of solidarity with Belarus took place in Vilnius yesterday. About 20 people, namely activists of youth organizations “Malady Front”, “StudAlliance” and BUNT, took part in them.
They gathered near the Belarusian Embassy and started a performance at 3 p.m. Passers-by were shown how “operative actions” were conducted in Belarus. Participants gave out leaflets containing information about the absurd of preventive detentions and demands to start an independent and open investigation of the explosion that took place in Minsk on July 4.
The performance had to be stopped 10 minutes later because the police demanded it. However, an official appeal was sent to the Belarusian Embassy. It expressed the anxiety of the youth about repressions started against democratic activists. Malady Front members and Belarusian students organized one more action in the centre of Vilnius on the evening of July 16. Several dozen people were holding candles, white-red-white flags and transparencies in different languages.
