UCP to conduct political discussions by Kremlin walls
The conference about Belarusian-Russian relationship will take place on August 30 in Moscow. The organizers of the event are the United Civic Party and the Co-Chairman of the unregistered Republican Party of Russia Uladzimir Ryzhkou.
The Belarusian side will be represented by 10 opposition politicians, the Russian side - by political scientists, experts, politicians and journalists. The organizers do not exclude the possibility of participation of the representatives of the Russian authorities in the conference. This was informed to the European Radio for Belarus by the Chairman of the UCP Anatol Liabedzka.
Liabedzka: “I don't know exactly, who will be there from the Russian authorities, but the experts and political scientists, who will definitely take part in the event, are close enough to Kremlin. They will have an opportunity to convey our position there. There are several directions, to which we can send information: mass media, experts and representatives of the authorities. They can be representatives of the State Duma or Administration”.
A similar conference took place last year in Minsk. The participants discussed politics, economics and foreign policies of our countries. This time the discussions will cover the same topics, says Liabedzka. However, this year the Belarusian side is interested to conduct the conference in Moscow.
Liabedzka: “For us, it is more interesting to conduct this conference in Russia this year. We foresee great interest from the side of mass media, which means we would be able to rebroadcast our position broadly”.
He also expressed deep regret that this rebroadcasting will be single-sided - the organizers have no opportunity to transport Belarusian journalists to the conference.
