UN human rights activists appeal to authorities of Belarus, Egypt and Tunisia

The United Nations Organization's human rights activists called on the authorities of Belarus, Egypt and Tunisia not to mute voices of those who want changes, informs the UNO's news center, reports BelaPAN.  Recent events in several countries of the world reflect disappointment of many people, whose voices are unnoticed and ignored by the authorities, a group of the UN special rapporteurs and experts on human rights has stated. 

The human rights defenders claim that these countries' demonstrators were outraged also by the fact that they had been refused in their right to participate in taking of important decisions, which confirms once again that all human rights - civil, cultural, economic, political and social - are indivisible.

"We are deeply concerned by the increase of limitations of the right for freedom of speech and the information that the authorities do their best to mute the voices of the people who long for being heard",— the experts have underlined. They have declared their deep concern by the arrests of the demonstrations' participants, journalists, human rights activists and lawyers, and also by interference with the work of the media. 

"Freedom of peaceful gatherings and freedom of associations are fundamental rights in a democratic society", — the statement says.
