US lifts sanctions against another Belarusian company
The US Department of State has decided not to extend the sanctions imposed on Belarusian Optical & Mechanical Association (BelOMO) since May 2011.
The sanctions against arms trader Beltechexport were also lifted earlier. Now it has happened to one more Belarusian company.
The sanctions were imposed in May 2011, BelPAN notes. According to the website of the US Department of State, the sanctions were imposed because of "trusted information" about the companies’ supplies of ‘equipment and technologies from ‘the export control list’ to such states as Syria, Iran and North Korea <…> which could help make financial contributions to mass destruction weapons or missile systems."
