Football: Kuban fires coach Viktar Hancharenka
The Russian football side Kuban officially confirms the dismissal of Viktar Hancharenka from the position of the head coach.
Information about Victar Hancharenka’s dismissal from Kuban appeared on November 12.
The ex-coach of Barysau BATE came to work with this Krasnodar club on October 2013. Kuban started the championship of Russia 2014/15 successfully. The team is sharing the 3-5 position after 13 tours and has only lost once.
That is why the information about his dismissal seemed to be a canard at first. Kuban director general Evgenii Muravyov refuted the information at first:
"Hancharenka is still the chief manager of the team. We have no reason to fire him.”
However, influential Russian mass media including Sport-Express started reporting his dismissal soon afterwards. Evgenii Muravyov started saying different things too:
"It is senseless to comment on the situation. Hancharenka is at work and his contract has not been cancelled yet. I know that rumours cannot appear out of nowhere: we will give an explanation when the situation becomes clear. The team is training as usual and preparing for a friendly match appointed for Sunday. I think that we will be able to explain everything tomorrow.”
Another Belarusian coach, Leanid Kuchuk, who left Kuban after a scandal in the summer of 2013 and was fired from Moscow Locomotiv in October 2014 may replace Hancharenka, some sources report.
