Vitsebsk authorities forbid celebration of Independence Declaration anniversary

The regional affiliate of the BNF Party has received a refusal of their request for a festive meeting dated for the Day of the Declaration of Independence and state sovereignty of Belarus, reports “Nasha Niva”. The request was sent to Vitsebsk City Executive Committee. However, the refusal was sent by October District administration. The recreation park of the Soviet Army where opposition members wanted to organize the event is situated in its territory.

Party members have been refused in connection with the fact that contracts for medical services and keeping the order by the police were not attached to the request.

The BNF affiliate will try to appeal the decision because it considers the refusal to be groundless. It is necessary to sign contracts with other structures only if you have been allowed to conduct your event in a certain place and at a certain time.
