Yakauleuski: There are obstacles to lifting U.S. sanctions
Political analyst Raman Yakauleuski comments on Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich’s speech in New York.
The Belarusian PM is attending the First Belarusian-American Investment Forum in New York. He has already negotiated with congressman Hakeem Jeffries about the possibility of lifting the American sanctions imposed on Belarusian enterprises.
Raman Yakauleuski doubts that the US may lift the sanctions.
Yakauleuski: "If we listen to Americans instead of Myasnikovich (Euroradio: the recent visit of an American delegation to Belarus), they said that obstacles to lifting the sanctions still remained. The obstacles are political prisoners.”
Myasnikovich’s visit to the US is a sign of positive changes in Belarus-US relations, noted the commentator. He believes that the Belarusian PM has come to the US to fulfill Lukashenka’s order to conduct unofficial negotiations with the American government and his meeting with the congressman proves it.
