Zlotnіkau: Venezuela getting control stock of “Naftan” - no bluff
An economist Leanid Zlotnikau has expressed the opinion in an interview with ERB. Let us remind you that if Belarus likes Venezuelan investors’ terms, they may get any share holding belonging to “Naftan” including the control stock. The senior vice PM Uladzimir Syamahska claimed it.
Zlotnikau thinks that this statement is not a game with Russia and even if it is, it has been carried too far:
Zlotnikau: "You cannot say that it is just a bluff, a game meant to make Russia lower the price of the petroleum it supplies to us. I think that if it is a game, it has gone too far. I still think it is a real situation. Lukashenka reckons on Venezuelan petroleum”.
The economist thinks that the negotiations between Minsk and Caracas about “Naftan” are dedicated to the investment of Venezuelan money in the reconstruction of this Navapolatsk plant. Belarus lacks money to do it.
However, such an agreement with Venezuela will not be advantageous to Belarus in medium-term perspective, notes the economist.
