Activists in Germany, Norway remind about Belarusian political prisoners
On Aug. 4, members of "Union for Democracy in Belarus" put portraits of Belarusian political prisoners in front of the Belarusian Embassy in Berlin.
On the same day, representatives of the organization visited the memorial "Three Swords in a Rock" near the Norwegian city Stavanger. They put the portraits of the Belarusian political prisoners there as well.
The actions were aimed to coincide with the Day of Solidarity with the Belarusian civil society.
Chairman of the Union Anatol Mikhnavets has told Euroradio that they focused on the personalities of Yauhen Vaskovich and Artsyom Prakapenka during their actions. Vaskovich and Prakapenka got 7 years of imprisonment each for the attempt to arson the doors of the KGB office in Babruisk.
Apart from the portraits of Vaskovich and Prakapenka, there were also the images of HR defender Ales Byalyatski and Belarusian refugee in Poland Andrei Zhukavets.
