Belarus says no debt to Gazprom over Russian gas supplies
Belarus refutes being in Russia’s debt for gas, Minister of Energy Uladzimir Patupchyk told journalists on May 12. The statement was made before the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Mahilyou.
"Belarus is paying according to the interstate agreement. We will consider the issue in court,” interfax.by quotes Patupchyk.
Belarus and Russia interpret the interstate gas agreement differently, the Minister said. Russia insists on Yamal’s price while Belarus says that the market price had to come into force on January 1.
Belarus owes money to Gazrom for four months ($125 million), Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novik claimed. Te debt keeps increasing, the Russian official said.
