DPM urges Belarusians not to make 'face more scary than death'
The Belarusian high-ranking official is not happy that his compatriots do not smile much.
Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Tozik has called on Belarusians not to make "the face more scary than death" during the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championships to be hosted by Minsk in May.
"We have this mentality when people make their face more scary than death. What does it cost just to smile at each other? But here when you smile, some other associations emerge," Tozik is quoted by interfax.by as saying. The DPM would not elaborate on what associations exactly he had in mind.
Besides, Tozik pointed to other problems that ice hockey fans might face when visiting Minsk, namely a small number of car parking areas.
DPM was also unhappy that museums close too early - at 1800: "Does it mean I have to leave work at 1500 in order to get in there? They must be working round a clock one week before and one week after the championships!" He suggested that Museum Nights be organized permanently during the tournament so that tourists could move from one museum to another.
Minsk will host the World Ice Hockey Championships at Minsk Arena and Chiziuka arena on May 9-25, 2014.
