Minsk transport services made more than 21 million dollars on cancellation of benefits
Now “Misnktrans” suggests that the fine for “stowaways” should be increased and is studying the possibility of introduction of an automatic system of fare payment. As ERB has found out, “Misnktrans” has made 53 billion roubles more on tickets in comparison with the past year. The head of the financial and economic department of “Minsktrans” Hanna Mihailouskaya informed that Minsk transport services had made 198 billion roubles on tickets and season tickets.
Hanna Mіhailouskaya: “We have made 36% or 52.8 billion roubles more on city transportation in comparison with the last year. It includes buses, trolleybuses, trams and the subway. The cancellation of benefits has contributed to it alongside with the introduction of a stricter control system. The control system has helped us make about 6.5 billions”.
It turns out that “Misnktrans” has made more than 46 billion roubles or more than 21 billion dollars on the cancellation of benefits.
Speaking about the improved control system, Hanna Mihailouska mentioned that about a thousand ticket collectors worked in buses, trolleybuses and trams. However, they manage to control only about 30% of the transport. Increasing their number is not profitable so they are looking for other ways.
Hanna Mіhailouskaya: “We are considering new methods. For example, we may introduce an automatic system of fare payment like in Moscow. We should also increase fines for stowaways. We have prepared our suggestions because 0.2 of the base amount, that’s 7 thousands, is a very low level of responsibility”.
Meanwhile, “Misnkstrans” has not managed to organize cooperation with the police to catch stowaways. As ERB informed, policemen did not prolong the contract several years ago. A ticket collector can only ask stowaways to get off or draw a protocol if they agree. There will be no special police buses at bus stops.
