Shunevich: My attitude to any suicide is strongly negative
This is how the Interior Minister responded to the question about frequent cases of suicides among the law-enforcement officials.
However,
Ihar Shunevich refrained from answering the question on what he considered the
reason of suicides among his subordinates.
Shunevich: "Suicide reason is a social question. In
any concrete case we deal with specific reasons. And take measures to liquidate
them."
The most recent case of a policeman's suicide happened this year in the end of
January: policeman of Vorsha subdivision of the Interior Ministry's Defensive
Department Lieutenant-Colonel Mikhalik shot himself at work. Two months before
that, in the end of last October, operative officer-on-duty of the Frunzenski
district police department shot himself and the KGB Colonel Kazak died.
According to the calculations, 15 representatives of the law-enforcement
agencies committed suicide within the last 5 years.
